KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – In line with high rate of unemployment especially among the youth in Nigeria, an Educationist, Mrs. Grace Salifu has called for Nigerians to pull out their resources together in order to map out a way forward especially establishing joint business ventures.

Mrs. Salifu who hails from Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, North-Central, Nigeria, said the resources available to individuals especially those at the lowest part of the ladder is not available to set up business ventures, but they can do that by setting up a commonwealth for that purpose.

She said such monies can be donations from wealthy Nigerians, business moguls, national and international business organizations; saying trustees who are respected members of the society should be appointed to supervise the funds.

According to her, the funds could also be drawn from such account to revitalize other moribund infrastructures scattered all over the country like the Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mill and others.

Mrs. Salifu who was speaking to Daily News Precise in Kaduna on Tuesday, said this will help the government to stabilize and set the economy in sound footing.

Salifu said all Nigerians should tighten their seatbelts while going through this hard process to help the country stabilize her socio-economic problems.  Sighting some portions of the scriptures to buttress her point, she said Nigerians should avoid living flamboyant lifestyle especially during this economic downturn, rather should commit such funds to helping the less privileged in the society.

“I am calling on well-meaning Nigerians to go to other parts of the country and established businesses to employ our teaming youth by so doing this will take most of them off the streets.

“This will help curb drug addictions and discourage them from engaging in other social vices, as the saying goes, an idle mind is a devil’s workshop.

“We should be our brother’s keeper, otherwise why would someone in this country have 5 – 10 cars packed in his carriage without driving attest one or twice in a year? Why waste money on such cars while people are suffering in the country? She queried.
