PORT-HARCOURT, South-South Nigeria - The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has berated the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbeokun, over his involvement in the forthcoming Local Government election in Rivers State.
HURIWA also backed the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for foiling an attempt by the Nigerian Police, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), to take over the State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
The rights group said Egbetokun has become a party in the ongoing battle for political relevance and supremacy between the Rivers State governor and his erstwhile benefactor, Nyesom Wike.
