The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Thursday visited the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York on a follow up on the collaboration concerning Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), across Borno State.
During the visit, Zulum held a closed-door meeting with the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed and a few officials.
Recall that the UN Deputy Secretary-General was in Borno in 2020, where she visited Banki town to assess government’s response to the humanitarian crisis in the northeast region.
Amina was also in Maiduguri in 2023 advocating for free education up to senior secondary school level to encourage the girl-child education in Nigeria.
She commended the leadership style of the Zulum-led administration and emphasized the urgent need for improved financing of girls’ education in the crisis-affected region.
