KDSG recognizes, enhances multiple values of water

The Kaduna State Government recognizes and enhances multiple values of water and it is making concerted efforts to deliver on its mandate of making clean water accessible in various communities in the state.
The Honourable Commissioner for Public Works and Infrastructure, Hajia Balaraba Aliyu Inuwa, made the statement in a press briefing to mark the 2021 World Water Day, Tuesday in Kaduna.
She said ‘Valuing Water’ is a shared responsibility of all whether acting as governments, municipalities, businesses, farmers, civil societies, communities, or as individuals.
It is the duty of all to recognize and enhance, embrace water multiple values and build trust.
It is also important to reconcile values and build trust, protect the source, educate to empower, invest and innovate.
The Kaduna state government, recognizing the strategic importance of water as a veritable vehicle for overall development of its people under the dynamic leadership of Governor Ahmad Nasir El Rufai has been engaging relevant stakeholders in its bold governance paradigm shift of “Making Kaduna Great Again” and “Putting the People First.”
The commemoration of this year’s World Water Day is another great opportunity to deepen the collaboration between the state with the society on the important theme of ‘Valuing Water’.
‘Significant progress has been made in the rehabilitation of existing water facilities, expansion of pipelines distribution network and construction of new facilities.
‘Furthermore, the initiation of the expansion of Water Supply due to rapid development of the state, which is tagged ‘Greater Kaduna Expansion Project.
‘To sustain the tempo and to further improve the level of coverage and access to potable water and support irrigation for farming in the state, the following water supply projects/improvements are being worked upon: Consultancy Service for Technical Assessment of Dams in Kaduna State (Phase 1); Remedial Works on Sabon Gida Earth Dam; Initiated the procurement process for the Rehabilitation of fifteen Dams across the state
