Zulum Distributes N50m to 5,000 Borno Refugees in Chadian community

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – Borno  State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Tuesday met with Borno citizens taking refuge at Darsalam Refugee Camp in Baga Sola, a boarder community in the Republic of Chad.
The governor who was received by the Chadian Governor of Lake Province, Fadul Tijjani, interacted with the leadership at the camp to know their challenges and government interventions.
Accompanied by the Nigerian Ambassador to Chad and the Chadian Ambassador to Nigeria, the governor announced a joint efforts between his administration, federal establishments and the UNHCR made to repatriate the refugees to safe resettlements in Borno.
While in Baga Sola, Zulum supervised the distribution of N50m cash to 5,000 families, with each receiving N10,000 cash.
He proceeded to N’Djamena, capital of Chad Republic, where he will meet other refugees from Borno, on Wednesday.
Other government officials in the governor’s entourage include: Member representing Kukawa in the State House of Assembly, Haruna Kukawa; Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele; Special Adviser on Housing and Energy, Zanna Jabu; and General Manager of Borno Plastic Industries, Abatcha Jarawa.
