Condolence: Zulum Receives Presidential Delegation over Passage of Emirs of Bama, Biu

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Tuesday received a presidential delegation consisting of ministers and other officials to commiserate on behalf of  President Muhammadu Buhari, the Government and people of Borno State over the demised of the emirs of Bama and Biu.
The Minister of Education, Mal. Adamu Adamu, led the delegation, accompanied by the state Minister of Agriculture, Baba Shehuri; his counterpart in Works and Housing, Engr. Aliyu; and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mal. Garba Shehu.
In a letter of condolence presented to Governor Zulum by leader of the delegation, President Buhari described the two emirs as those that have contributed in keeping peace and stability in their respective emirates, especially at the wake of the violence caused by Boko Haram.
Buhari further described the death of Shehu of Bama, Shehu Kyari Ibn Umar Elkanemi and the emir of Biu, Mai Umar Mustapha Aliyu, in a rapid succession as a rare double tragedy and painful loss to the people of Nigeria.
Mal. Adamu commended Governor Zulum for his commitment and sacrifice in the fight against insurgency in the northeast.
“We would like to pray to God to change the situation so that what obtain now in Borno State changed.
“In particular sir, what you are doing is giving hope to Nigerians, because we have not seen a Governor, picking so much interest, risking his own life and then going after the danger that faces his people.
“Your Excellency, we congratulate you for what you are doing,” Adamu said.
Responding, Zulum expressed appreciation to President Buhari for the high powered delegation to condole with Government and people of Borno State.
He also noted that the President could not send a delegation when the Shehu of Bama died due to lock down as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He added that the President had personally called him and the Shehu of Borno to commiserate over the death of the Shehu of Bama.
