KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – Following the change in leadership in the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Tuesday, a source disclosed that Members of the House had in the early hours of Tuesday collated their signatories for impeachment of the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, before he hurriedly rushed to tender his resignation to the Clerk of the House.
According to information gathered by Daily Newstime, he got wind of the imminent impeachment move and scribbled an untyped resignation letter to meet up with time, before the House reconvened for its plenary session as scheduled.
The members converged on the Assembly complex early to meet and to meet and collate signatories to impeach Aminu Abdullahi Shagali as the speaker.
It was a unanimous action with more than two-third (2/3) of the House members endorsing the list for his immediate impeachment .
Apparently, the former Speaker understood the implications of being impeached, hence he bowed to pressure and resigned citing “Personal grounds.”
