KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC), has planned to address the ticket racketeering at train stations.
The Head Kaduna Zonal Office of the Commission, Mailafia Yakubu, stated on Wednesday when he received in his office, officials of the Nigeria Railway Cooperation, (NRC) team led by Mr. James Zang.
Yakubu expressed happiness over the visit and promised that the Commission will do everything within it’s power to address the issue of tickets racketeering in train stations.
Earlier, Mr. Zang had assured that the Corporation was working towards making the e-ticketing platform a reality within the shortest possible time which will completely eradicate rackeetering of tickets.
He commended the EFCC for helping in bringing sanity to the process of selling tickets to the general public while discouraging racketeers in train stations; pointing out that those perpetrating the crimes were not staff of the Corporation.
It would be recalled that sometimes in 2019 the Kaduna Zonal Office clamped down on Rigasa Train Station and
arrested some touts who were engaged in tickets racketeering.
