KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Director General, National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has again cautioned corps members against embarking on unnecessary journeys outside their states of service.
He said that if it was inevitable for corps members to travel, it must be done with due permission and authorization.
He gave the charge on Sunday while addressing corps members during an unscheduled visit to Black Gold orientation camp, Kaduna.
Gen Ibrahim who took the corps participants through the cardinal programmes of the scheme, urged them to be security conscious, shun crippling social vices, adhere strictly to approved dress code and never deface the NYSC uniform.
The NYSC Chief executive further advised corps members to take the scheme’s empowerment programme seriously to enable them acquire necessary skills for economic independence.
He stated that the NYSC members will be beneficiaries of the new minimum wage when payment commences for senior public servants.
The DG had earlier on arrival inspected the ongoing construction work on the ultra modern one-story hostel block for male corps members at the Black Gold Orientation Camp, Kaduna.
