Redouble Your Productivity – Kaduna Water Corporation Boss Task Staff

ZARIA, North-West, Nigeria – The Managing Director of Kaduna State Water Corporation, (KADSWAC), Sanusi Maikudi, has charged the staff to redouble their productivity to ensure that the Corporation achieve its mandate.

He stated this during a meeting with five Strategic Business Units, (SBUs), in Area 1 held in Zaria on Thursday, November 7, 2019.

Maikudi further advised the staff to take their jobs very seriously to justify the increment in their salary, especially when the corporation has no intention to send them to the labour market.

Speaking about the meeting, he disclosed that it became necessary to present to the five SBUs in Area 1, in the water sector also known as Northern Senatorial Zone namely; Saminaka, Ikara and three within Zaria and Sabongari LGAs, that they must wake up to their new responsibility and get new connections, reactivate old ones and new customers.

The KADSWAC boss said that principal officers of the corporation were invited to present the staff its customers ratio analysis and the economic analysis conducted on how the SBUs fared in terms of headquarters’ expenditure on them from January to September 2019, and what the SBUs remitted as revenue generation which many of the units were found to be in deficits.

“Now the Corporation has given it staff an option to engage in more marketing to generate more customers to avoid down seizing, and we hope they would achieve that, and if they don’t make meaningful achievement it could lead to down seizing.

“After the successful completion and commissioning of the brand new damp and water treatment plant, network of reservoirs with state-of-art transmission and distribution lines projects, we expected an increased on the revenue generation, but we did not see changes on the revenue generated.

“We are saying this is not acceptable, the staff need to do what ought to be done.  These SBUs must be able to produce water, sale the water and generate revenue to be able to sustain operation of the corporation,” he charged.

On metering of customers, Maikudi said the Corporation has already launched its universal metering, saying those customers who could not afford meters, the Corporation would do social metering where they could pay through their monthly bills.

He warned defaulters and customers who engaged in illegal connection, stealing of water and refusal to pay that they would be made to pay double at the law court as stipulated in the Kaduna State Water Supply and Sanitation Law Penal Code for water offenders.

He appealed to customers to ensure they were metered and whatever they consumed should be paid for.
