Foundation Partners Media Organizations, Groups For Peace Building

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – A Non-Governmental Organization, The Eye Opener Youth/Women Foundation, on Wednesday embarked on a tour of media organizations in Kaduna state to support the state’s peace building initiative.

Speaking to newsmen, the President/Founder of the Foundation, Mrs. Margaret Julius and her Coordinator/Programme Director, Engineer Ali Jigo said the essence of the courtesy visits was to partner with like minded organizations and groups to preach peace, promote unity in Kaduna state and Nigeria at large.

According to the duo, the rate of drug abuse and other social vices among youth could be linked to high level of poverty and lack of support and care for destitute, poor, orphans and others in dire need of support.

Mrs. Julius also disclosed that the foundation has completed arrangements to organize a rally slated for September 18 to create more awareness to support vulnerable people in the state, stressing that a greater level of peace and unity would be achieved if these categories of people are assisted and supported.

Responding, the Zonal Director of the Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA) Kaduna Network Centre, Alhaji Mukhtar Abdullahi, commended the Foundation for its laudable programmes and assured that his organization would partner with it to achieve its objectives.

Similarly, Chairman of Tomato Sellers Peace and Unity Association, at Mogadishu Layout, Bakin Dogo, Alhaji Yau Umar, who expressed satisfaction with the initiative, demanded equal treatment by government and its agencies, saying absolute peace and unity would be guaranteed only when people are treated equally.

Speaking through his Secretary, Alhaji Dalhat Ali, the chairman assured of his Association’s readiness to work with the Foundation to accomplish its aim for the peace and unity of Kaduna.

The foundation with the objective of discovering and empowering youth engaged in drug abuse, addicts and other social vices, also toured media establishments in the state to create awareness in a bid to ensure lasting peace and unity.

The media establishments visited includes:  the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, (FRCN),  NTA Kaduna Network Centre, Kaduna State Media Corporation, (KSMC), among others.
