The Niger, Kogi and Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, (NCS) has generated N1.709 billion between January to July 2019.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, the Area Controller, Yusuf Kassim said the Command had targeted N3, 051,699,704.51 out of which it has so far generated N1,709,663,828.08 representing 56 per cent of the annual target.
According to him, the Command is not relenting on its efforts to surpass the recorded successes last year, since his assumption of office, and warned smugglers to steer clear and engage in meaningful venture.
Giving the breakdown, he said the Command generated N277,994,063.91, in the month of June 2019, N245,308,308.71 of the Monthly target. He said this was quite a remarkable performance because the Command surpassed the revenue generated in June 2018 with N106,683,365.68.
He also said that the Command has made different seizures of 189 bags of rice with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N3,213,000; a Six tyres truck with Reg. No. MNA 691 XV suspected to be carrying 300 bags of rice was intercepted with DPV of N5,100,000.
He added that a Mitsubishi Canter with Reg NO XC 112 BDU suspected to be conveying 100 bags of rice with DPV of N1.700m was also arrested within the month.
