JIGAWA, North-West, Nigeria- Dutse the capital of Jigawa State on Sunday, April 22, 2018, was thrown into a state of confusion and pandemonium as thugs in their hundreds invaded the Gumel Township Stadium to disrupt a rally in support of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Badaru Abubakar’s 2019 elections bid.
The thugs who arrived the venue vent their anger on the senator representing Jigawa North-West Senatorial District, Abdullahi Gumel for poor representation at the Upper Chamber.
Similarly, the state party Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Ado Kiri was prevented from addressing the crowd by the angry thugs
Earlier on, Senator Gumel was smuggled into the venue by a former senator, Danladi Sankara, to shield him from the angry crowd.
The thugs are suspected to be supporters of persons who wish to take Senator Gumel’s seat in 2019 election.
The rally which was billed to host all Federal and State lawmakers had only two Federal lawmakers in attendance.
However, the lawmaker representing Garki/Bubura Federal Constituency, Adamu Gawo, in his speech said his constituency has officially endorsed President Buhari and Governor Badaru for second term.
Dignitaries at the event includes a former deputy governor of Jigawa State, Ahmed Mohammed, Mr Sankara and a party chieftain, Isa Gerawa.
The gathering was the third of it kind in the state where party faithful gathered in each senatorial zone to declare support for Messrs Buhari and Badaru.
