Kubau LG Gets N12.1 bn Worth Capital Projects In 3 Years – Commissioner

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – Kaduna State Government has expended N12.1 billion on 45 capital projects in Kubau Local Government Area of the state in three and a half years, Planning and Budget Commissioner, Muhammad Abdullahi said.

He disclosed at a Policy Town hall Meeting in Anchau, Kaduna State, organised by the Planning and Budget Commission in collaboration with the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on Tuesday.

He said that the meeting was primarily organised to present the current administration’s achievements in the local government in the last 44 months under review and to get feedback from the people going forward.

Abdullahi, who was represented by the Director-General, Bureau for Public Service Reforms, Bashir Mohammed, said that N11 billion was spent on roads construction and clearing of 10,000 hectares of land for wheat farming.

He said that N876.7 million was spent on construction of a block of classroom and rehabilitation of 13 classrooms, construction of eight toilets, six solar-powered boreholes and supply of school uniforms.

On health, the commissioner said that the government had spent N150.1 million on construction of five health centres, four perimeter fences and procurement of equipment for five health facilities.

“The current government has equally constructed four hand pumps bore hole and four toilets at the cost of N115.5 million to improve water supply, sanitation and hygiene in the area.

“The interventions were in the area of economic development, social welfare, security and justice, and good governance.

“Also, as part of the state’s inclusive governance policy, three of your sons were appointed to serve in different capacities by the Nasir El-Rufai led-administration.

“The town hall meeting became necessary not only to share experience and challenges but also to strengthen accountability, transparency, sustainability and community participation in governance,” he said.

The Corps Marshal and General Manager, Kaduna State Traffic and Environmental Law Enforcement Agency, Abdulrahman Ahmed, described the El-Rufai led-government as a youth-friendly government.

Ahmed urged the people of the area to support the government by being peaceful, law abiding and contributing meaningfully to the development of the state.

Also, Managing Director, Kaduna State Development and Property Company, Mahmud Gazara, said that the government would continue to roll out youths and women empowerment opportunities designed for self-reliance.

“On the issue of housing, the government is making arrangement to provide adequate housing for workers.

“We have commenced discussion with local government chairmen to also provide housing for local government workers to ensure no one is left behind,” he said.

The Chairman of the LGA, Sabo Anchau, thanked the government for giving the local government the needed attention, particularly in the area of infrastructure, education, health and other economic empowerment ventures.

Anchau said that security had greatly improved over the years, adding that the government would continue to carry everyone along to ensure transparent and accountable governance.

In the same vein, the District Head of Anchau, Alhaji Tanimu Haruna, thanked the state government for investing huge resources toward improving access to health and education services, including infrastructure for economic development.
