KATSINA, North-West Nigeria – The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, has called for immediate action to avert the dangers of heavy rainfall and potential floodings in seven Local Government Areas (LGAs), of the state.

The directive came as a response to the NiMET report predicting heavy downpours in the affected LGAs.

The governor tasked the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Barrister Abdullahi Faskari, with convening a critical meeting of key stakeholders to intensify efforts at mitigating any unfortunate outcomes.

Barr. Faskari emphasized the need for proactive measures to protect Funtua, Bakori, Bindawa, Kaita, Katsina, Jibia, and Daura against possible floodings.

Agencies like the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the State Emergency Protection Agency (SEPA), have been urged to intensify their preparedness and public awareness campaigns.

The SSG said swift coordination between stakeholders, including top government officials and emergency agencies, would help reduce the impact of the anticipated heavy downpours.
