Kanwan Katsina bags ABU students’ council award

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Ahmadu Bello University Students Representative Council, has honored the Kanwan Katsina, District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, with the ‘Champion of Community Harmony and Conflict Resolution’ Award.
Alhaji Kankara was presented the award at the students body’s Council summit held recently in Zaria, Kaduna state in recognition of his outstanding contributions to security development and conflict resolution in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina state, and Nigeria as a whole.
The summit was held to mark the culmination of a comprehensive training programme for 2000 students of the University, equipping them with essential entrepreneurship and digital skills.
Presenting the Award, the Council was of the strong belief that the recipient’s tireless efforts to promote peace and harmony in his community, despite the challenges posed by banditry and kidnappings are truly commendable.

According to the student body, the monarch as an alumnus of ABU, and his presence to receive the award, is a testament to the impact of the contributions, and believes that it will serve as a source of encouragement to continue the excellent work as ABU students see him as a role model, and his achievements serve as an inspiration to others.
The presence of the Kanwan Katsina at the event, the student body restated, was highly valued, as it believed that the monarch’s leadership and conflict resolution expertise would greatly inspire and motivate students and other leaders.
Receiving the award, the Kanwan Katsina, Alhaji Usman Kankara, expressed his appreciation to the students Representative Council for finding him worthy of the award.
He informed the student body with delight that he graduated from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1981, forty three years ago where he studied Political Science and this received a standing ovation by the students.
Alhaji Kankara attributed his success and achievements in his presence career as a traditional ruler and while at the Customs Service to the trainings and moldings he received from the university.

He therefore urge the student to focus on their studies and graduate with flying colors to become good ambassadors of their Alma Mater.
The monarch commended the students body for organizing the skills acquisition training for 2000 students on shoe making, baking, make-up, and ICT among others.
