Network of Peace Journalists lauds KSPC, IMC, others for successful peace week

KADUNA, North-West Nigeria –  The Network of Peace Journalists, (NPJ), has lauded the Kaduna State Peace Commission, (KSPC); Interfaith Mediation Center, (IMC), and other stakeholders for a successful 2023 Peace Week celebrations in Kaduna state.
National President of NPJ, Mr. Ibrahima Yakubu, expressed his satisfaction with the week-long event to mark the International Day of Peace describing it as a remarkable occasion.
In a statement signed and made available to the media in Kaduna on Saturday, September 23, Yakubu extended the group’s appreciation to Mercy Corps, ActionAid, Global Peace Development, and International Alert for their efforts in organizing this commemorative event, making this year’s International Day of Peace truly unique.
The statement highlighted that the event was first of its kind, featuring series of daily activities held over the course of seven days; noting that these activities were designed to educate the general public on the significance of peace and harmony among adherents of different faith-based organizations in the country.
“The seven-day event, which commenced last Friday, and rounder up on Thursday, September 21 evening at the Kaduna State University, (KASU) successfully educating millions of Kaduna community members on the importance of fostering peace and unity.
“A variety of activities took place during the week, including sports events such as football games, endurance trek, visits to IDP camps, and media briefing by Islamic and Christian clerics who emphasized the importance of the entire Peace Week,” the statement further enumerated.
The NPJ National President also expressed the group’s gratitude to the Technical Committee responsible for planning the entire week-long event, underscoring their role in its success.
It further acknowledged the support of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), and Jama’tul Nasrul Islam (JNI), all of Kaduna chapters as well as all  media organizations that collaborated with stakeholders to ensure the success of the entire week-long event.
NPJ also extended it’s appreciation to the Kaduna State Police Command, the Kaduna State Joint Task Force, (Civilian JTF), and other civil organizations that contributed one way or the other to making this year’s International Day of Peace truly remarkable.
