KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria -As a way of making the Children on the Move, (Almajiri), orphans and others have a sense of belonging a Group, Women Alliance for Purposeful Leadership Foundation, (WAFPL), on Wednesday visited the Kano road Mosque Kaduna to present foods to them as part of celebration to mark this year’s Children’s Day
Addressing the children, Zonal Coordinator of WAFPL, (Northwest), Mrs. Gormwa Gotus, assured the children that the foundation was mindful of them, hence the team visited them to celebrate their day.
She said the foundation decided to extend love to Children on the Move to give them a sense of belonging. “As the children of the rich celebrate the day at exotic places like the Amusement Parks, Gamji Gate, Bambino, others, catching fun with family and friends these children do not have such luxuries.
“So, our visit today in a way would change their lives, and at the same time assure them that some people out there are also mindful of them,” she said.
Giving the history of WAFPL, Mrs Gotus, said although the foundation is barely 2years old in operation, it has done creditably we in the society.
She added that the founder of WAFPL, Mrs Catherine Williams, a philanthropist of repute, through the group aimed at touching more lives, including those in the Nigerian Correctional Facilities across the country, while beckoning to like-minded NGOs to join hands together to touch more lives and uplift the nation.
The Secretary, Association of Street Beggars in Kaduna, Mallam Mohammed Halal, who was on hand to receive the WAFPL Team, commended the group for its magnanimity towards the Almajiri children (Children on the Move).
He thanked the team for remembering the children by providing them with foods to join their counterparts in celebrating this year’s Children’s Day, and prayed that the Almighty God bless the organization and prosper it.
Also speaking, WAFPL State Coordinator, Mrs. Ataitiya Hassan, said the day was specifically slated for the less privileged children at Kano road Mosque to round up the 2023 Children’s Day celebration.
According to her, the Foundation decided to save the best for the last, saying “as you can see the children are so excited when they were being given their food packages,” adding that “at the end of the day everyone went away very happy,” she noted.
