KADUNA, North-West Nigeria – The All Progressives Congress, (APC) critical stakeholders in Kafur Local Government (LGA) of Katsina State, have submitted the name of Alhaji Bello Kagara, as their nominee for inclusion in the forthcoming Executive Council of Katsina State.
Recall that the transition committee set up by the Katsina State governor-elect, Dr Dikko Umar Radda, has written letters to all local government stakeholders’ committees to submit their nominations for consideration in the appointment of members into the executive council of the incoming government.
It was in response to the letter the stakeholders in Kafur LGA met on Friday in Zaria and unanimously agreed to submit the name of Alhaji Bello Kagara as their nominee.
Chief of Staff to Katsina State Governor, Hon Bature Masari, chaired the meeting and read the letter calling for nomination from stakeholders and announced the nomination of Kagara, and the over 70 stakeholders that attended the meeting endorsed the nomination.
The meeting resolved to forward the nomination to the committee and communicate it’s decision to him as he was not at the meeting.
Some of the stakeholders at the meeting were; Hon Garba Kanya, Kafur Council Chairman and his Vice, Hon Yusuf Mahuta, Hon Shu’aibu Wakili, Katsina State House of Assembly member elect.
Others include; Alhaji Nafi’u Lawal Kuringafa, Hon Kabir Barau Dankanjiba, Alhaji Muntari Rugoji, Alh Musa Tsoho and several others.
The decision to present Alhaji Bello Kagara was arrived at after the consideration of so many factors. Kagara is one of the politicians who have been on the terrain actively for over three decades. In fact, he has been in politics even before the Kafur LGA was carved out of Malumfashi Local Government in 1991.
Kagara’s first political appointment was a Supervisory Councillor in charge of education in Malumfashi LGA under the chairmanship of Hon Kabir Barau Dankajiba.
When Kafur LGA was carved out of Malumfashi, Alhaji Kagara aspired for it’s chairmanship under the defunct Social Democratic Party, (SDP). He won the nomination but was denied to contest, to satisfy the interests of some political groups few days to the election.
This decision did not go down well with his teaming supporters and admirers. They finally suggested and decided to shift their support to the alternative political party, the National Republican Convention, (NRC) and returned its candidate elected.
Sequel to this development, the council appointed him as secretary to the council. When the gubernatorial election was held, NRC won. This gave Kagara’s political outing a very big boost and he began participating in political discussions and activities at the state level.
Although his interest in politics continues to grow he decided not to go into any political contest, and has been able to maintain his relation with his political friends and associates, making contributions that cement relationships.
Kagara joined the services of Universal Basic Education Commission, (UBEC), and rose to the position of director in various departments. Before he retired, and retained, in year 2020 as director having attained the mandatory age of 60 years, the projects he generated for Kafur LGA and Katsina State are too numerous to mention.
In summary, Kagara has the capacity needed to drive a government forward, he has the will to deliver on any given mandate, he has requisite knowledge of the terrain, he has the courage, perseverance, tolerance and the humanitarian feelings on issues that affect life.
Kagara, the ‘Sarkin Yakin Danejin Katsina’, a product of Katsina College that produced eminent Nigerian leaders such as the first Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa; the Premier of Northern Nigeria and Sadauna of Sakkwato, Sir Ahmadu Bello; the famous emancipation crusader Malam Aminu Kano, and a host of others.
He is an alumni of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Kagara attended several courses relating to education management in several countries including but not limited to USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, China, Korea and many other African countries.
