KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – Kaduna State Labour Party, (LP) has dissociated itself from the recently held National Executive Council, (NEC) meeting in Bauchi state.
The State Public Relations Officer, (PRO), of the party, Idris Yusuf, asserted this while reading a resolution reached after an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC) held on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
The party also dissociated itself from what it described as an illegal and counterfeit group of the Party led by Lamidi Apapa.
“The public should note that the entire drama of indignity going on is being sponsored by an electoral bandit whose main aim is to use a fake Labour Party NWC to scuttle the weighty petition that the Labour Party and our Presidential candidate, Peter Obi tabled before the Presidential Election Tribunal.
“The intention is to create parallel structures at the National level and over the states to lend support to the dirty agenda of scuttling the mandate of Mr Peter Obi and Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed in the 2023 Presidential elections.”
In view of this, the State SEC immediately suspended some members of the party for attending the ‘illegal meeting’ in Bauchi.
Those suspended are; the deputy gubernatorial candidate of the party in 2023 election, Hon. Bashir Idris Aliyu; Alhaji Ibrahim Sidi Bamali, and Engineer Michael Ayuba Auta, the senatorial candidates of zone one and three of the party respectively.
“These three stand suspended and this decision will be forwarded to the National Working Committee of the Labour Party and other relevant bodies for further actions,” the PRO said.
The party also affirmed that the Chairman of the Labour Party in Kaduna state remains Hon Auwal Tafoki; adding that any other person parading himself in the above position is blatantly committing impersonation and may face the wrath of the law.
“Kaduna state Labour Party is committed to ensuring that the party remains united and becomes the most formidable political platform in the state and in Nigeria that will produce visionary and transformational leaders that will take our country to greater height.
“We therefore, cannot be distracted by a few disgruntled elements whose major aim is to service their greed to the detriment of the party and the country.
“We hereby affirm and assert our loyalty, support and commitment to the National Working Committee of our great Party led by our lawfully recognized National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure.
“Consequent upon the above, all appointments and decisions made by the Apapa group on behalf of our great Party remain null and void,” he added.
