Adamawa Rerun: Islamic cleric blasts REC Hudu, says he’s a disgrace to humanity

BAUCHI, North-East, Nigeria – The purported declaration of Senator Aishatu Binani by the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC), Barr Yunusa Hudu Ari, has continued to trend internationally and a topical issue in both public and social media platforms.
An Islamic Cleric in a video during a Ramadan Tafsir in Bauchi, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz Bauchi, described the action by Hudu as the 21st-century madness that has brought disgrace to the people of Bauchi and his Local Government, Ningi.
Bauchi lampooned Hudu for showing a high sense of rascality that undermined the constitution and the electoral act provision to have declared Binani a winner while results are still being collated.
The cleric in the Tafsir video recalled how he admonished Hudu when he was newly posted to Adamawa to fear God and do justice to all people irrespective of religion and tribe.
According to Sheikh Bauchi, he sent an SMS text message to Hudu after he might have called him severally with no response from him and decided to send him a message like this:
“I’m admonishing you to fear God, consider your age, you barely have many years to spend on earth, you can look around, how many of your mates are alive? Remember the deadly disease you were affected with. Remember you will meet with God on the day of reckoning.
“For this reason do not go your own way, fear God by doing the right thing, and don’t allow anyone to use you for his or her selfish reasons or someone else uses for other people’s (s) interest. If you do that remember you will meet God soon, know this whatever you will get, you will never enjoy it. All I’m saying is fear God.”
Sheik Bauchi was worried that Hudu responded to his SMS messages by saying, “May God protect us all from wicked and evil leaders” without adhering to his admonitions.
At the moment all eyes are keenly on Adamawa’s rerun election which is under controversies and confusion as INEC has unturned Hudu’s declaration.
INEC through a press statement assured Nigerians that the collation will continue at a sooner later date to be announced.
