BAUCHI, North-East, Nigeria – Deposed Bauchi monarch, Muhammadu Bello Kirfi, has vowed to remove the state governor, Bala Mohammed from office,
Kirfi broke his silence for the first time after his dethronement by the state government as Wazirin Bauchi on January 3.
The dethroned monarch said he will sack Bala from office, just as he brought him to office.
It would be recalled that the Bauchi State Emirate Council sacked the ex-Wazirin, citing “disloyalty and disrespect toward the state governor”.
His deposition was contained in a letter signed by the Council Secretary, Alhaji Shehu Mudi Muhammad dated 3rd January 2023.
Reacting to his removal in a chat with journalists at his residence in Bauchi on Sunday, he boasted, saying: “The way I brought him into office will also be the way to get him out of power.
“I regard what happened to me as a simple incident because something has been worrying my mind. I am one of those who stood for him to become the governor and I was little bit disappointed.
“This is the worse he can do to me, but it doesn’t matter because I am not gaining anything from the office (Waziri) I am holding in the emir’s palace,” Kirfi said.
He claimed to have been instrumental to the emergence of Bala Mohammed as governor of Bauchi State in 2019. Expressing his grievances, he disclosed how he was there for Bala at a critical time for him to realize his political ambition against an incumbent governor who enjoyed the federal might at the time.
He said the governor has betrayed the trust of every political gladiators who ensured his success in the last election, stressing that in his barely four years, salient issues crucial to the people of the state remained unattended to despite repeated promises.
He claimed that Bala has crisis with every prominent politicians that worked for his success in the state. “I leave everything to Almighty Allah. He will judge what is between me and him,” he added.
But in a swift reaction, the Director of Media and Publicity 2023 PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council, who is also Publicity Secretary of the party, Yayanuwa Zainabari, said that the campaign council was not bothered by the elder statesman’s threat.
“Governor Mohammed is seeking re-election from the Bauchi electorate, not a single individual because it is God that gives power to whom he wills.
“No individual can claim to be responsible for bringing Governor Bala Mohammed to power because it was the people of Bauchi State across different political parties that voted him into office.
“We believe God has destined him to be governor of Bauchi state through the people of the state and we are confident the people will give him another mandate,” Zainabari posited.
