Katsina Gov’t constructs 75 new secondary schools

KATSINA, North-West, Nigeria – The Katsina State Government will construct 75 new secondary schools under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, (AGILE) program,
State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Badamasi Charanchi, confirmed this when he led the World Bank Task Team for a courtesy call  to the state Governor, Alh Aminu Masari.

He revealed that the new school project covering Junior and Senior secondary schools would be carried out  under the AGILE program at the cost of about fifteen Billion naira .

Prof. Charanchi who appreciated the World Bank for supporting 158 secondary schools with N24 million  each for school development; and for also recording a number of achievements in the state.

This, he said, include training of 500 teachers on capacity building, and providing financial support to over 16,000 students of Junior and Senior secondary schools under conditional cash transfer .

Also benefited from the AGILE program, is the training of members of School Based Management Committees on Funds Management which made it possible for judicious utilization of grant allocated to the state for school’s development.

He then thanked the Governor Masari for fulfilling all conditions toward the actualisation of the AGILE program in the state
