KATSINA, North-West, Nigeria – Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has warned that his administration will not afford the State-owned Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, (UMYU), to fall into the trap of unabated crisis that will interfere with academic performance in providing quality education.
He gave the warning when he received a report of the government visitation panel to the university.
Masari noted that his administration has the political will and courage to take any decision that will restore the lost glory and honour of the institution and others in the State.
According to him, this is to send the right signal to other institutions on the seriousness of the present administration towards education sector in the state.
While appreciating the committee for a job well done, the Governor promised to present it for deliberations at next executive council meeting to consider recommendations contained in the report.
Earlier, Chairman of the Committee who is also the Special Adviser on Human Capital Development, Muhammad Aliyu, said the recommendations of the panel were carefully studied before coming up with draft decision for government’s consideration.
According to him, all the decisions were made with due regards to the extant laws, statutes of the university as well as rules and regulations governing its conduct of affairs within the realm of the public service.
