YOLA, North-East Nigeria – The NGO, Spotlight Initiative, has returned 41 vulnerable out-of-school girls back to the classroom in Adamawa state.

Senior Programme Officer of NEEM Foundation, Minoe Duamwan, disclosed this on Wednesday, during the enrollment held at Aliyu Mustapha College in Yola.

Duamwan explained that the programme is sponsored by the European Union, (E.U) and United Nations, (UN) with the NEEM Foundation as an implementing partner to end all forms of violence against women and girls.

She explained that empowering the girl-child with a sound education is another way to reduce Gender-Based Violence, (GBV) in the society; adding that 300 women would be given a second chance to go back to adult education.

Also speaking, the Principal of the College, Mal. Umar Sadiq, urged parents to desists from sending their wards to hawk, and applauded the EU/UN and NEEM Foundation for the intervention.

The 41 beneficiaries were provided with uniforms, shoes, socks, and writing materials.
