KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – Former governor of Kaduna State, Ramalan Yero, has declared intention to contest Kaduna State governorship seat under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
Speaking at the occasion at the state party Secretariat on Monday, July 30, 2018, Yero lamented that lives and property are being lost daily to the activities of armed banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, youth thuggery and street gangerism.
The guber aspirant said that the state under El-Rufai led administration has witnessed series of half-hearted trial and errors that have disastrous consequences on the people of the state.
He added that the state government no longer cares about the primary purpose of her existence of providing security of lives and property and the welfare of the people.
He assured that if voted in as the governor of the state, he would overcome the critical challenges the people are facing in the state.
“The relative peace and harmonious coexistence hitherto being enjoyed in Kaduna State is under serious threats. It is unfortunate that the citizens have never been more divided than they are now.
“I believe that my humble track record of academic achievements and working experience in both the private and public sectors, have earned me tremendous knowledge, skills and capacity to understand the multiple expectations of our people across the state.
“I am quite aware of the fact that the task ahead is daunting, but as a unifier who hope to rise above divisiveness, sentiments and pettiness, l am convinced that the task is not insurmountable.
“These challenges require among other things, collective will to forge ahead in solidarity backed by dynamic, credible and purposeful leadership. I have had the rare opportunity to have successfully served the state in various capacities as commissioner of finance, deputy governor and subsequently the governor.
“Kaduna State needs a leader that will turn the tide of fortunes of the state, a detribalized leader with conviction, vision and above all, a leader with the fear of God to be able to harness the vast human and material resources for the well being of the good people of Kaduna State,” he said.
