Zulum commissions 5 Primary Healthcare Centres …Lays foundation for another 50-bed health facility

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, on Wednesday commissioned five Primary Healthcare centres, (PHCs), and also layed foundation for the construction of another 50-bed health facility in Wulari area of Maiduguri metropolis.
The commissioned projects include; four Primary Healthcare Centers, (PHCs) along Baga road, Njimtilo, 777 Housing Estate, and Abujan Talakawa, and an overhauled Infectious Disease Hospital along Kirikasamma road.
Zulum also commissioned a township road at Abuja-Sheraton community; and equally directed for the  commencement of the complete overhaul of the dilapidated Maiduguri-Bama highway.
This according to the governor is to ensure that each of 312 wards in the State is provided with a PHC in compliance with the standard of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Borno helmsman said all the numerous healthcare facilities built in the central, southern and northern parts of the State, will be equipped with competent staff; pointing out that health personnel have already been employed to man these facilities.
On the Maiduguri-Bama highway, the Governor said the State was in talks with Aliko Dangote to support in extending the road from Bama to Banki when the project reaches Bama from Maiduguri, noting that connecting Banki will enhanced trans-boarder trade and also increase access to livelihoods.
He commended the quality of the commissioned projects executed by the State’s Ministry of Health and that of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement.
