Borno Govt. Recruits 776 Teachers for Secondary schools

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – Governor Babagana Zulum, has approved the recruitment of 776 teachers for Secondary Schools who are to resume work on November 1, 2020.
He disclosed this after a meeting with officials of the State Ministries of Higher Education, and Borno State Universal Basic Education Board (BOSUBEB), on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
He added that immediately after the completion of the verification exercise, similar approval will be granted to SUBEB to recruit more qualified primary school teachers.
Zulum further said, that the state executive council has resolved to extend retirement age for teachers in the State tertiary institutions; adding that a bill has already been sent to the State Assembly to that effect.
He directed the State Ministry of Education and the SUBEB to recruit some qualified retired teachers, particularly in science teachers on adhoc basis, to bridge the gap in the existing shortage of science teachers across the state.
Commissioners of the two ministeries, Executive Chairman of BOSUBEB, Permanent Secretaries and other top officials of other agencies in the education sector were in attendance at the meeting.
