KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) has been thrown into mourning mode following the demised of the National Treasurer of the Congress, Comrade Khaleel Abdulkadir.
In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Ayuba Suleiman, and Comrade Christiana Bawa, Chairperson and Secretary of Kaduna State Council respectively, condoled NLC President, Central Working Committee, and National Executive Council over the great loss.
The Council also expressed it sincere condolence to the immediate family, friends and members of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, (NULG).
The statement described the late Treasurer of NLC and President of NULGE as a pillar in the struggle, an icon in the movement which his death has created a vacuum that would be very difficult to fill.
“Late Ibrahim Khaleel Abdulkadir was a great leader who contributed positivity to the welfare of the local government employees and served Nigeria Labour Congress with dedication and commitment.
“Late Comrade Ibrahim Khaleel died at the National Hospital Abuja, where he was confirmed dead.
“Kano NULGE President, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo who confirmed the death on Wednesday night, October 7, 2020 said that the deceased would be buried in Wudil, Local Government Area of Kano State on Thursday, October 8, 2020 afternoon.
“He was re-elected National President of Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and National Treasurer of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC,” the statement reads.
