NSCDC Lauds Borno Govt. over 15 Vehicles …Says State Most Active on Agro Rangers

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – Borno State is said to be the most active in the use of specialized agro rangers to provide security to farmers and farmlands.
Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Abdullahi Muhammadu, stated this when he recieved Gov Zulum in his office in Abuja on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.
He said that part of NSCDC’s mandate is to provide security to agro-allied investments, hence, the organization came up with agro rangers as a national programme in which it has specialized armed personnel dedicated to securing farmers and farmlands in areas that are required.
The NSCDC boss thanked Governor Zulum for his untiring support to his organization and commitment to securing farmers in order to encourage agricultural activities and increased food supply.
Speaking on the Governor’s request for a collaboration with NSCDC to commenced a volunteer programme; he said; “Borno State Government and NSCDC will collaborate to commenced a well structured volunteer programme that will involved training of residents in civil protection.”
Muhammadu immediately approved the Governor’s request with a promise that NSCDC will ensure a good training for the volunteers so that they complement efforts of security establishments in community protection.
Earlier, Gov. Zulum had informed the NSCDC boss that part of his mission to his office was to request for partnership between Borno State Government and his organization to come up with a well structured volunteer programme.
“We will lawfully and carefully select youth who are willing to provide volunteer services for the NSCDC to give them very good training on civil protection.
“That way, they will complement the good efforts of our security establishments in enhancing community policing in our State. The advantage is that our youth are conversant with the nooks and crannies of the state. They will be very useful,” he said.
The Governor announced approval of allocation of land to NSCDC for construction of its Northeast Zonal office in Maiduguri, pointing out that the land was ready for takeover by the organization. He also promised that the State Government will increased support to the Command.
Zulum who described the State’s Corps Commandant as dedicated, intelligent and composed officer, said all the needed support would be accorded him to continue his good works for the benefit of the citizens.
He however requested for an increased in the number of armed personnel deployed to the state as agro rangers by NSCDC.
