48,000 Households Receive Food as Zulum Traverses Marte, Dikwa, Mafa LGAs

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – 48,000 displaced households have received food items following Governor Zulum’s humanitarian trips to Marte, Dikwa and Mafa Local Government Areas of the state over the weekend.
Zulum, between Friday, July 10, 2020 and Sunday, July 12, 2020 traversed the 3 LGAs, to supervised distributions of relief items and also coordinated return of IDPs back to their communities.
Thousands of bags of grains and cooking oils were distributed. 38,000 of the beneficiaries were from Dikwa while the remaining 10,000 are from Mafa LGAs.
The relief items were jointly provided by the Borno State Government and the Federal Government through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
In Dikwa where the Governor spent two nights, he visited various projects locations and assessed qualities of blocks meant for the reconstruction of destroyed communities around Dikwa and Marte LGAs.
Not satisfied with the quality of blocks he assessed, Zulum warned the ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement not to use substandard blocks in any of the state projects.
He also inspected the construction work at CBDA 500 Units Housing Estate, and ordered for speedy completion of the work to enable IDPs from Marte to return home.
He equally had series of consultations with stakeholders to faciluto quick return of Garade community in Marte LGA
While fielding questions from newsmen after the tour, Zulum expressed his displeasure over the quality of works carried out, and warned the contractor handling the project to ensure all engineering protocols were observed.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the President Muhammadu Buhari for his support and commitment towards the development of Borno State.
