KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – A group under the aegis of All Nigerian Youth Project 2023, has called on the deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, (SLS), to come out and contest the 2023 presidential election, or face legal action if he default.
The National Coordinator of the group, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu Shinkafi, stated this during a press conference in Kaduna on Friday.
According to him, Sanusi’s credentials stand tall amidst other contestants. He further said just as the group backed Baba Buhari in 2015 where they supported him, gave him recharge cards, money and ticket to contest that is how the group is going to back SLS, give him money, purchase the nomination form and sponsor his campaign.
“If SLS refused to come out, we will sue him in the court where he would be compelled to contest because he is capable to rule Nigeria and we count him worthy of driving this sinking ship we are in.
“We the youth of this country are out to determine who will be the president in 2023, as we did for Buhari and he has almost exhausted his tenure.
“With the situation we are in Nigeria, the only remedy for us is to bring out a credible candidate, someone that is acceptable to all and sundry and we believe SLS is the acceptable one, being an intellectual person always listening to the masses.
“There is no point hiding our feelings, we’re out to tell Nigerians before anybody will come out and start struggling. All people agitating to contest should go back and relax.
“As soon as Buhari finishes his tenure, the next presidential candidate is Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, that is what the All Nigerian Youth Project 2023 is clamouring for. We are calling on him to get out of that cage and come out to contest since he is competent.
“Now let me reiterate that all Nigerian youth should join this race to make sure that SLS gets the ticket in 2023. All presidential aspirants in 2023 should please back SLS because we’re not going to back or support any candidate besides him. That’s what we did during President Muhammadu Buhari.
“That’s also why we’re seeking the permission of our father, President Buhari, since he has done well. We thank him for saying he’s not going to support anybody. This is a challenge to all Nigerians.
“The All Nigerian Youth Project 2023 is not about north, south, east and west, or Muslim, Christian and pagan. We don’t have that sentiment, and that is the essence of it name.
“You see Nigeria is a decentralized country now, so anyone that can pilot the affairs of this country to bring us out from the sinking ship, we don’t mind to support him.
“You know what I mean by sinking ship; boko haram, kidnappers, hunger are disturbing us, lack of good roads, lack of medicines in our hospitals are our problems; added to this is the coronavirus, and we pray that God do away with it for us.
“These things are disturbing us, hence we consider Nigeria to be a sinking ship because if you had watched the film – Titanic you’ll know the situation was horrible and that is the same situation I can compare in Nigeria today,” he said.
