MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has approved N578,682,000 for payment of scholarship to indigenes pursuing PhD, Masters and undergraduate degrees in different tertiary institutions within and outside the state.
State Commissioner of Higher Education, Professor Isa Hussaini, disclosed this in a meeting with stakeholders in Maiduguri on Tuesday
Prof Hussaini explained that about 23,776 students schooling in Nigeria and 118 foreign students are already benefitting from the first batch of disbursement.
He added that the state Scholarship Board is making sure all payments are made into the beneficiaries bank accounts for transparency and accountability.
In line with the Governor’s instruction, names of students for the first batch have been listed and will be made public through various online and social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter handles of the Governor which enjoy good traffic of followers.
