Zulum Distributes Relief Items To 30,000 Refugees In Niger Republic

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum on Sunday directly supervised the distribution of relief items to Nigerian refugees in Diffa Province, Niger Republic.

The Governor who departed Maiduguri on Saturday for Malam-fatori in Abadam Local Government Area, (LGA), proceeded to Diffa Province where he met with several refugees from Borno State.

He apart from supervising the distribution of relief items also held several meetings with officials from the Government of Diffa Province towards improvement of livelihoods of the refugees.

Diffa Province presently houses over 120,000 refugees from four LGAs of Abadam, Mobar, Kukawa and Guzamala, all in Northern part of Borno state.

About 30,000 men and women benefits, each received either a cash gifts or food and non-food items.

Items distributed include; bags of rice, maize, cartons of cooking oil and wrappers. Each male beneficiaries received a bag of rice, maize and 3 liters of cooking oil, while their female counterparts went home with cash gifts and a wrapper each.

Zulum also commended President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that thousands of bags of rice distributed were donations from the Federal Government through the Nigerian Customs Service.

“We are so much indebted to the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Customs Service has been supporting us in providing rice to our people. We remain eternally grateful to the President,” Zulum said.
