Kano NUJ Condoles Kaduna Council Over Uzu’s Demise

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) led by its Chairman, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, on Wednesday visited the Kaduna State NUJ Secretariat to condole with the Council over the sudden demise of its member and a veteran Journalist,Chief Dominic Uzu.

Chief Uzu lost his life in a ghastly motor accident along Kaduna – Zaria Road recently.

The visiting Council was received by Vice President NUJ Zone A, Comrade Yusuf Idris, who thanked the chairman and the delegates for creating time out of their tight schedules to visit the Kaduna State Council, and being the only Council that pays a condolence visit to Kaduna since the incident occurred.

In his speech, chairman of Kano State Council, Comrade Ibrahim said that they were in Kaduna to sympathise with the Council over the sudden demise of Chief Uzu, and prayed for the reposed of the soul of the departed colleague and pray the Almighty God grant the family, friends and colleagues fortitude to overcome the irreplaceable loss.

Earlier, State Chairman of Kaduna Council, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, extolled the age-long relationship between the two State Councils.

He also commended the Kano State Commissioner for Information and former NUJ National President, Comrade Garba Mohammed, who was the first caller to sympathise with the Council during the grief period

Others on the entourage include; Murtala Abba, Kano Council Secretary; Rep of the Hon Commissioner for Information, Umar Faruk; Chairman Pyramid FM, Mustapha Gambo; and Assistant Secretary of Kano Council, Nura Shehu, amongst others.

In his encomium, an elder of the Council, Elder John Fwah described Chief Uzu as a man of virtue, a complete gentleman, and a peace maker; adding that his death was not a loss only to the family but to the entire Council members.

On behave of the State Council, Vice Chairman, Comrade Sabiu Danmaliki, thanked the delegates and prayed for their safe journey back to their destination.
