Kaduna  State SWAN Mourns Veteran Sports Writer

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter has expressed sadness over the death of a veteran Sports Journalist, Dominic Eze Uzu who died in a ghastly motor accident along Kaduna-Zaria road.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of Kaduna State SWAN, Comrade Jacob Zango and Comrade Abdulwaheed Adubi respectively and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
While describing his death as a great loss to journalism, the statement urged Kaduna media practitioners not to be deterred by the death of the former Treasurer and Secretary of the Council.
“The News of his death on Tuesday was shocking to all members of SWAN in Kaduna State. We share in the pain and deeply identify with his family, friends and the entire NUJ in this moment of grief.
“Kaduna State SWAN regretted that the deceased departed in a very painful way when his services were most needed to help strengthen SWAN and journalism in Kaduna.
“In this trying moment, we must uphold the virtues of patriotism and commitment to the ideals of Journalism.
“As we pray that God Almighty forgive him of his short comings, we also pray that God Almighty give his family the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement reads.
Chief Uzu died in active service and left positive footprints and legacies behind before the unfortunate event.
He was also a Pensioner of the New NIGERIAN Newspaper where he was Sports Editor of New NIGERIAN on Sunday, until his death, Chief Uzu, was the CEO/Publisher of City Source Online newspaper.
He is survived by a wife and four children.
