Breaking: Honour Sirawoo Drags NUJ To Court

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Honour Sirawoo Nornubari, Mohammed Sani Zaria and Steve Alabi led faction of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), has dragged the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Kaduna SWAN Chairman and Secretary, Jacob Zango and Abdulwaheed Adubi, to a Magistrate Court in Kaduna State.
The Honour Sirawoo led group went to court under the umbrella of The Registered Trustees of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria last week Tuesday, January 14, 2020 trying to stop the Kaduna SWAN elections when they brandished court order stoping the NUJ Kaduna from holding and discussing SWAN issues in its congresses.
Members of the NUJ led by the state Council Secretary, Comrade Femi Adi, who thronged into the Magistrate Court coming out after the case was adjourned.
When the case came up for mention on Monday, at the Magistrate Court, Barnawa, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Abdulhazeez A. Ibrahim, said he never issued any order restraining NUJ or SWAN from holding their meetings.
At this juncture, the NUJ lawyer, Barrister Desmond Tabakwot requested for a date to enable him study his clients brief and the case was adjourned to February 12, 2020.
