KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN) Kaduna State chapter has elected new leaders to steer the affairs of the Association in the next three years.
While taking oath of office on Tuesday morning at the Secretariat of NUJ Kaduna State Council, the elected members sworn in as follow:
“that I shall not either through writing or by words or emotions, take actions that will bring disrepute to journalism profession.
“That I shall always abide and keep to the tenets and ethics of the journalism profession at all times and in all places.”
The elected Exco members are: (1)Zango Jacob – Chairman
(2) Umar Abdulhamid -Deputy Chairman
(3) Abdulwaheed Olayinka Adubi – Secretary
(4) Mayen Akon Etim – Deputy Secretary
(5) Zainab Tanimu – Treasurer
(6) Gbenga Abiola – Financial Secretary
The Oath Administrator, Ibrahim Maji, Esq, while administering the Oath on the elected members said the oath is to bear true allegiance to the Statute of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and as members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
In his inaugural speech, the newly elected chairman of Kaduna State SWAN, Zango Jacob, promised to reposition the Association for better than it used to be in the past.
While calling on all members of the Association to be more dedicated and be more focused, he said: “our focus is to ensure that Kaduna SWAN and other relevant stakeholders are operating on the same page for the betterment of the industry”.
“As we are going into our various offices, we shall be guided by the 2008 Statutes of the Association,” he said.
