Zulum Commissions Two Projects, To Construct 1,000 Housing Units, Others In Gwoza LGA

MAIDUGURI, North-East, Nigeria – The Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, on Sunday commissioned a Primary Healthcare Centre in Pulka, and a Government Lodge all in Gwoza Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor was in Gwoza on an assessment tour with a view to providing social amenities that would pave way for the restoration of civil authorities in communities around the town.
While in Gwoza, Zulum directed the Borno State Rural Water Supply Agency to drill 10 deep aquifer boreholes to address perennial water problem facing the town.
He also visited Ngoshe community where he made an assessment of destruction by insurgents on public and private buildings.
The Borno helmsman as well assessed the progress of an ongoing 250 housing units in Ngoshe to facilitate quick return of residents.
While noting that 1000 residents would be encouraged to return to Ngoshe in two months, the Governor directed the Ministry of RRR to support additional 750 residents of the community taking refuge in Pulka to rehabilitate their homes.
The Governor also visited the Nguro Soye community in Bama Local Government Area, with a view to returning residents who are willing to relocate back home.
On his second day, Zulum attended the Nigerian Army social activities and Operation Lafiya Dole Medal Parade 2019.
The medal parade, is an annual military ceremony where some men and officers who distinguished themselves in the cause of their services are decorated with medal award.
The occasion was organised by the Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya in Gwoza LGA.
Also, while in Gwoza the Governor supervised the distribution of food and non- food items to over 16,000 IDPs including men and women, and the host communities.
Food items distributed includes; rice, maize, beans and cooking oil for men; while wrappers and cash gifts were given to the women.
The Governor rounded up his three-day official visit to Gwoza with a visit to the Government Day Secondary School, where he directed the state Ministry of Education to rehabilitate the school for immediate resettlement of all students that are willing to return.
