KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria -Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i, has advised corps members to accord activities and programmes of the National Youth Service Corp, (NYSC), orientation course undivided attention and full commitment.
He stated this on Monday during the Oath taking ceremony of the 2019 Batch “C” stream 2 for corps members in Kaduna.
He said these programmes have been put in place to prepare them for challenges of the service year and beyond.
El-Rufai who was represented at the event by Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, Alhaji Mohammed Mansur, urged the corps members to shun all social vices which retard individual as well as our collective progress as a people.
The Governor enjoined the corps members to participate actively in the scheme’s empowerment programmes designed to provide them with requisite skills and vocation needed for economic independence and self actualization during and after the service year.
“I challenge you to say no to drug abuse, cultism, internet fraud, rumour mongering, abusive and unguarded utterances including dissemination of fake information that do not portray us well as a great nation.”
He further charged the corps members to rather embrace the spirit of patriotism, hardwork, commitment to national ideals and love for one another in order to build the Nigerian of our dreams.
Earlier, the NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator, Mallam Isa Wana, commended the corps members for discipline and commitment exhibited since they arrived the Black Gold Camp.
He noted that with such commitment the orientation course and the service year will no doubt be hitchfree and result – oriented.
