Igabi LGA Lifts Governor’s Cup

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – Lere Local Government Football Team at the weekend suffered a 2-0 defeat from its Igabi counterpart in the just concluded Governor’s Cup Final at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
Aliyu Baba, spoting No 4 Jersey who capitalised on the defensive error of Lere boys and converted a long pass from the midfield for the first goal at exactly 35 minutes into the first half.
Lere’s striker, Shamsideen Suleiman, failed to convert several opportunities into goal, in the first 45 minutes of the match.
On resumption, Igabi came out stronger to show its superiority over Lere, as another chance was converted into goal again by Aliyu Baba.
While appreciating the support of the State Government, the Kaduna State Football Association, (KDSFA) Chairman, Honourable Sheriff Kassim, disclosed that the aim of the tournament is to encourage and promote football at the grassroots across the state.
The Governor’s Cup was organized by the KDSFA, with the support of the State Government.
