KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Coordinator  National Youth Services Corp, (NYSC) Kaduna State, Mallam Isa Wana, has made a strong case for the provision of corps lodges and transit hostel facilities by the State Government for corps members in every local government council in the state.

He made the request while addressing an inter-ministerial meeting on Local Government finance in Kaduna on Thursday.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ja’afaru Sani (middle on white), and Permanent Secretaries during the meeting.

Wana told the forum that following the directive of the State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’I, that  majority of corps members in the state be posted to serve in rural areas “where their services are mostly needed in schools and health care centres,” the provision of such facilities has become very important and mandatory.

The Coordinator noted that with accommodation facilities put in place it would be much easier to implement the directive of the Governor for rural-oriented posting of corps members in the state.

The meeting presided over by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ja’afaru  Sani, had in attendance Permanent Secretaries in charge of three key ministries of Budget and  Planning; Human Services and Social Development, and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,  as well as Chairmen of Local Government Councils in the state.
