Borno Govt To Support Dry Season Farming

The Borno State Government has said it would establish dry season farming sites in all the three senatorial zones of the state.
State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Engineer Bukar Talba, disclosed during an assessment tour of dry season farming sites, also known as ‘firgi’ in Mafa and some parts of Dikwa.
This is in line with one of the cardinal objectives of the Governor Babagana Zulum’s administration, for food security.

The high-powered assessment team led by the commissioner, was accompanied by an elder statesman Hon. Musa Kubo, and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Barrister Bajile Musa.
In all the places visited, the commissioner addressed the farmers gathered to benefit from the scheme.
He explained that in central and northern part of the state, which are mostly swampy areas, sorghum will be cultivated while rice will be cultivated in the southern part of the state.
