KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Joint Consultative Forum of Northern Youth Groups on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, join millions of Nigerians to congratulate Senator Ahmad Lawan and Hon Femi Gbajabiamila on their election as Senate President and Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives.
The youth groups equally felicitated with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Hon Ahmed Wase for their election as Deputy Senate President and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Groups in a statement signed by its Chairman, Murtala Abubakar, and made available to newsmen in Kaduna described the emergence of the new leaders as a reflection of the wishes of majority of Senators and Hon Members, hence, urged the winners and losers to bury the past and work in harmony for the good of the nation.
According to the statement, the groups said now that elections were over and principal officers of the National Assembly elected, Nigerians particularly the youth would like to see the implementation of blueprints that would translate to an improved economy and accelerated growth in the country.
The groups declared support for the leadership of NASS and assured of willingness to work with them in whatever capacity they are called upon, in the onerous task of pushing Nigeria to greater heights.
The youth prayed to God to guide the new leadership to ensure the success of the 9th NASS through enthronment of democratic ideals and legislative interventions geared towards the development of Nigeria.
“We pray God will give them the wisdom and strenght to pilot the affairs of the National Assembly and contribute positively in enthroning good governance in Nigeria.
“We have no doubt that going by their pedigree and legislative experience, their emergence would bring peace and development to the nation which would enhance the socio-economic well-being of all Nigerians,” the statement reads.
