KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – A Kaduna based politician and Youth Activist, Sir Jalal Falal has accused Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i of playing politics of deception, self-centeredness, and family and friends.
In a statement he signed and made available to the media in Kaduna on Sunday, June 9, 2019; the Youth Activist said this simply explained why El-Rufa’i’s colleagues in the Nigeria Governors’ Forum refused to elect him as their chairman because they know being an unduly combative personality, he will only end up insulting them thereby diminishing the majesty of his office; saying, “How can they condone a pupil governor?”
In his words; “Let me also make it known to you that people have now understood who El-Rufa’i actually is, and they are no longer impressed by El-Rufa’i deceptive politics, politics of self-centeredness and politics of family and friends.”
On the recent utterances credited to the Governor over retirement of some politicians in Kaduna State, Falal said power is transient, adding that El-Rufa’i is not God to retire anyone from politics.
“I wouldn’t have spoken on the recent utterances of Kaduna State Governor, if his statements were only on Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Politics of Lagos State, and in extension the Politics of their party (APC).
“I came here purposely because I want to set the records straight and educate Governor El-Rufa’i over his short memory on the politics of Kaduna State and by extension his shortsightedness.
“It’s absolute delusional for El-Rufa’i to imagine that he has retired some politicians by mere having another mandate through deceptive formula of Muslim/Muslim ticket during the 2019 election, when it was obvious that the election that purportedly gave him the second term ticket is not only a farce but a grand concoction of results by his desperate allies. (We are patiently awaiting the verdict of the tribunal).
“I therefore consider such words from El-Rufa’i laughable, conceived without fair review of past political events in Kaduna State.
“Without mincing words, El-Rufai should be reminded that he is not the first Governor to be re-elected for a second term in Kaduna State, notwithstanding, his acclaimed second mandate is being challenged at the tribunal by his major opponent Rt. Hon. Ashiru of PDP and therefore, El-Rufa’i should not celebrate yet because the court can still send him to political Golgotha.
“In the same Kaduna State where El-Rufa’i is a Governor today, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi served two terms straight tenure (1999 – 2007) without bragging of ending anybody’s political career despite the former Governor’s obvious political differences with so many important stakeholders during his first tenure.
“Again, late Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa of blessed memories was also re-elected for second term (2011) after he had completed his first tenure under Namadi/Yakowa ticket (2007), though Yakowa was short lived to complete the second tenure, but had never for once bragged of ending his opponents political career in Kaduna State.
“It is on record that none of these respected people, has ever bragged of ending anybody’s political career nor claimed to have extinguished any kind or form of political godfatherism in Kaduna State.
“For the avoidance of been misled by El-Rufai’s words, let me tell you what El-Rufa’i consider as political godfatherism; El-Rufa’i feels he cannot be advised by elders or leaders (traditional, religious and political), he feels stakeholders cannot communicate the cries of the people to him, he feels people cannot come and tell him what they actually want and how they feel about his administration. He is therefore alienated from people and as such impervious to their aspirations. He acts like a village principal.
“However, it is important to make it known to El-Rufa’i that he is absolutely nobody to end someone’s career in politics because he is not God. Power intoxication shouldn’t make someone to assume the supernatural features of God by having the feelings that he can do and undo at his own will. Is only God Almighty that Has that power, and Is only God Almighty that gives power and takes it.
“In decent and real progressive political arena, El-Rufa’i cannot stand to speak on politics. Because, without playing a religious card of his Muslim/Muslim ticket that deceived innocent electorate he wouldn’t have rigged his way and call himself a Governor in Kaduna State beyond May 29, 2019. As a matter of fact, El-Rufa’i comes across as the most divisive Governor ever to come out of Kaduna State.
“Prior to the 2019 election campaign, when the news of Muslim/Muslim ticket started going round, I knew that was the only option for El-Rufa’i to divide and rule over the people whom will be oblivious of his wasteful four years.
“In the same vein, I’m not surprised by the utterances of El-Rufa’i on Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, because he was only portraying his real personality on their APC National Leader. Let me remind you that, El-Rufa’i said more than what he said on Tinubu to late Premier of the defunct Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna of Sokoto and late Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, he did the same thing to his former boss Chief Obasanjo, to Waziri Atiku and of course to President Buhari before this fake romance.
“And in case Bola Tinubu and APC doesn’t know the game El-Rufa’i is playing, let me remind them, apart from his interest to succeed Buhari by 2023 as APC flag bearer or become a running mate to Professor Yemi Osinbajo on the platform of APC which are the reasons he is fighting Tinubu who seems to have the same interest to succeed President Buhari.
“The same El-Rufa’i is planning to form a new party and run for President by 2023 applying another controversial formula similar to Kaduna 2019 which I will disclose the formula in due course.
“As youth in Kaduna State, we will continue to respect our well meaning elders as well as our political, religious and traditional leaders. Seek for their support and advice without being rude or high headedness in order to see how we can salvage our state from economic vampires parading themselves as angels, milking the state in expense of the common man,” the statement reads.
