KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – A group under the auspice of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Revival Movement of Nigeria, has called for the immediate release of Mr Ben Bako and Yaro Makama before Saturday 16 presidential elections.
According to the group, failure to do so will amount to disenfranchising them from exercising their civic responsibility.
Addressing journalists in Kaduna on Thursday, the National Coordinator of the group Hon Engr Abdullahi Adamu, changed the security agencies to release the duo immediately.
Honourable Adamu said that the Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and President Muhammadu Buhari had made worse statements than the detained PDP chieftains, noting that it is rather unfortunate for a seating governor to carry out illegal arrest and detention of the opposition.
He also said that the police must be neutral in their discharge of their duties, and called on members of the PDP to be guided in their utterances especially other parties.
Hon Adamu, charged all PDP members to be patient but work for the common good of the party and the nation in general.
The PDP Revival Movement of Nigeria is a coalition of PDP support groups in Kaduna state.
