KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The Kaduna State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), Hajiya Walida Isa, has assured of the scheme’s readiness to contribute to the delivery of a free, fair and credible elections in the state.
Speaking at the flag-off of voter education campaign on peaceful elections organized by the National Orientation Agency, (NOA), on Wednesday, Hajiya Isa said Corps members that would be engaged as ad-hoc staff for the exercise would do their best.
She said that the scheme is offering the nation patriotic, non partisan and qualified manpower to assist the electoral umpire conduct hitch free elections.
In his address, the State Director of NOA, Zubairu Soba, said it is the responsibility of Nigerians to ensure violence free and peaceful 2019 elections, adding that the campaign was part of NOA’s mandate to sensitise stakehokders, and as well educate them on the need for violence free elections at all times.
He said politicians who have any grievances after elections should approach election tribunal to seek redress.
Stakeholders at the meeting includes, Security Agencies, INEC, Religious and Traditional Leaders, Youth Organisions among others.
They pledged their support for credible elections, while urging parents not to allow their wards be used as political thugs.
