Royal Father Appeals To Fulani For Acceptance Of Polio Immunization

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The District Head of Makarfi, Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, has appealed to the Fulani Traditional Rulers (Ardos) to give all the necessary support and cooperation to polio immunization exercise in the state.

He made the call while speaking at a public Awareness and sensitization exercise organized by Nomadic Immunization Forum for Fulani leaders in Kudan, Makarfi, Ikara and Kudan Local Government Areas.

He said the support become necessary to enable Fulani parents accept polio immunization and routine immunization among others for their children.

The District Head also tasked the Fulani leaders that apart from accepting polio immunization, they should always live together in peace with others in their domain.

Also, the State Administrative Secretary of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter, Mallam Abdullahi Adamu, stressed the importance of polio immunization and other health issues, and urged them to ensure that children of 0-5 years were adequately vaccinated in their communities.

Speaking, the Kaduna State Coordinator of Journalist’s Initiative on Immunization Against Polio, (JAP), Mallam Lawal Dogara, informed the gathering that Polio vaccines are safe, saying vaccination is aimed at making children to grow well and healthier

He called on the Fulani’s to always welcome vaccinators and present their kids for the exercise, saying “it is only when the children were in good health they can work harder to achieve success in life”.

The Director of Primary Health Care, (PHC), Makarfi LGA, Abdullahi Sani Bamacco, who commended organizers of the event, said that the exercise will help to improve acceptance of polio immunization especially in Fulani settlements.

Responding, four rulers and leaders of the Fulani communities including; Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji, representing Ikara; Alhaji Yusuf Gimi, Makarfi; Fulani Abubakar Dandako, Kudan, and Alhaji Musa Dutsenwai, Kubau; made commitments to do their best to enable Fulani’s accept Polio immunization at all times.

According to them, they would sensitize their people for the overall success of polio immunization and routine immunization among others.
