TY Danjuma Foundation, ACCIF Organize Inter-School Competition For  Girl-Child In Kaduna

KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – The TY Danjuma Foundation and All Children Charity International Foundation, (ACCIF), has organized an Inter-school Competition and Reorientation training for 120 girl-child who recently returned back to the classroom in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Speaking during the event, the Team Leader of ACCIF, Barrister Paul Daudu, said the project funded by TY Danjuma Foundation and executed by ACCIF is to ensure that 120 vulnerable girl-child at the focus communities of Marke, Makarfi and Nassarawa Doya in Makarfi LGA, not only returned back to the classroom but also develop in entrepreneurial and sporting activities.

Barrister Daudu who was represented by ACCIF Project Manager, Mr. Charles Irole, explained that activities of the day includes; Inter-school competition on soft skills, baking, bead making, drama, Liquid Soap, Vaseline and sports among the three schools;  Government Secondary School, Makarfi;  Government Junior Secondary School, Marke and Government Secondary School, Nassarawa Doya.

Also, a Director, Female Education in the state Ministry of Education, Mrs. Elizabeth David, said that government is monitoring the Foundation and ACCIF project and sustainability plan which at the end of the project would try and see where it could come to continue with it.

According to her, one glaring aspect of the project is the training of teachers on entrepreneurship and the teachers in turn train the students.  With this development, these teachers would not go away, but would remain under the employment of the state.

“Because teachers capacity has been built this will help retained them in the schools even when the TY Danjuma Foundation and ACCIF project comes to an end,” she said.

Speaking on behalf of principals of the schools, the principal of GJSS, Makarfi, Mallam Muhammad Salisu, appealed to the Foundation for retention and continuity of the girl-child education project in the area.

According to him, they were looking forward to the Foundation’s support with computer tablets for principals, students and other coordinating staff; saying “This will further launder the image of TY Danjuma and ACCIF Foundation for the support of girl-child education in Nigeria and even beyond.”

Highlight of the event includes presentation of prizes to winners. GSS Makarfi became overall winner to lift the cup, while GJSS, Marke clinched the 2nd position, and GSS Nassarawa Doya settled for the 3rd position.
