KADUNA, North-West, Nigeria – President Buhari’s chances at the 2019 elections has suffered a huge set back as sixty youth support groups of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), led by Alhaji Jibrila Gazama have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, whose ambition received a big boost.
Gazama who spoke on behalf of the groups, explained that they were in total support of the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar, for the presidential elections come 2019.
They restated inter alia their reasons to jump ship from APC to include the clear and continued policy of divide and rule, lack of security and safety of lives and property in Northern Nigeria as well as the “silly and despicable launching of the fake agenda of NEXT LEVEL by Gen Buhari and the APC “.
They further said they were swayed and encouraged to leave and join the PDP to support Atiku because it has become the norm nationwide, especially among young people and women to seek alignment with him to get Nigeria working again.
They said they were impressed with Atiku’s recent programme launched which specifically addressed the problems of Nigeria, the immediate and long term measures he would take to build a sustainable nation.
The National Secretary and Publicity Secretary of PDP, National Youth Leader of the party, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas who spoke on behalf of the party and His Excellency Atiku, welcomed them with open hands.
He Reiterated their principles of equity, understanding and coordinated efforts at building the youths via job creation and tolerance for all segments of the community.
He also assured the groups of total recognition and support from the PDP to enable them campaign vigorously for the election of Atiku as President come 2019.
